Profile
I am a fifth-year graduate student at the University of California, San Diego, and work in the Cardiac Mechanics Research Lab under PI's Dr. Omens and Dr. McCulloch.
Research Interests
I have been working on developing an in vitro model of load induced hypertrophy in isolated cardiac tissue specimens obtained from genetically engineered mouse models of human cardiovascular disease. I have utilized this system to study the mechanisms of mechanotransduction in the heart.
Defects in the mechanotransduction pathway may lead to heart failure and dilated cardiomyopathy. Understanding the mechanisms of mechanotransduction, both biochemical and mechanical, may help identify therapeutic strategies for the prevention and treatment of heart failure and dilated cardiomyopathy
